CROCHET PATTERN - Windsor Dishcloth


Handmade dishcloths have a variety of uses around the home. The colors and texture of this cloth are sure to make it your new favorite!  It's a great stashbuster project, too!

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
8.5” x 8.5”

YARN
Peaches & Creme, worsted weight #4 yarn (100% cotton; 120 yds/109 m per 2.5 oz/70.9 g ball) -- 1 ball Ocean Coral 11714 (Color A) and 1 ball Gold 11605 (Color B)

HOOK & OTHER MATERIALS
US Size H/8 (5.0mm) crochet hook, yarn needle

GAUGE
7 sts and 6 rows = 2”/5 cm
Gauge is not critical to this project.

NOTES
  1. A ch-1 at the beginning of a row does not count as a st.
  2. Keep tr sts to RS of work by crocheting them in front of previous 2 rows.
  3. Change colors by completing last pull-through of hdc at end of even numbered rows with new color. Do not fasten off at each color change; carry unused yarn along side of work.

Instructions:

With Color A, ch 28.

Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook, [ch 1, skip 1, sc in next 3] 6 times, ch 1, skip 1, sc in last—20 sc, 7 ch-1 spaces.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, hdc in each st and ch-1 space across, change to Color B—27 hdc.

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st, tr in skipped st 3 rows below, [sc in next, ch 1, skip 1, sc in next, tr in skipped st 3 rows below] 6 times, sc in last—7 tr, 6 ch-1 spaces, 14 sc.

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, hdc in each st and ch-1 space across, change to Color A—27 hdc.

Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st, ch 1, skip 1, sc in next, [tr in skipped st 3 rows below, sc in next, ch 1, skip 1, sc in next] 6 times—6 tr, 7 ch-1 spaces, 14 sc.

Row 6: Ch 1, turn, hdc in each st and ch-1 space across, change to Color B—27 hdc.

Rows 7–24: Repeat Rows 3–6 four times, then repeat Rows 3–4 once more. Fasten off Color B.

Row 25: Ch 1, turn, sc in next 3, [tr in skipped st 3 rows below, sc in next 3] 6 times, do not fasten off or turn. Continue to Trim.

Trim
With RS facing, rotate cloth to begin working along side.
Round 1: 2 sc in same corner st, work 23 sc evenly across side, 3 sc in corner, sc in next 25 across bottom, 3 sc in corner, 23 sc evenly across side, 3 sc in corner, sc in next 25 across top, ch 1, sl st to corner sc to join.

Finishing
Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Cloth may slant slightly; block to square if desired.
