Materials
H/8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors

Yarn
Approximately 1 oz Worsted Weight Cotton
Sample shown using Lily Sugar and Cream.

Size
Fits MOST standard 10 oz coffee mugs.

Gauge
4 STS = 1”

Difficulty
Easy

Stitch Guide
CH - chain, Group ST - SC and HDC in same ST, HDC - half double crochet, SC - single crochet, SL ST - slip stitch, ST - stitch

 Notes
  • A small “space” is made between group stitches.  Those spaces are where your next row of group stitches will go.
  • It’s best for the cozy to be snug.  Once the mug hug gets warm from the hot mug, it will stretch.
  • This cozy works best on mugs that have handles centered on the side of the mug.
  • Please do NOT put cozy into microwave.  Acrylic/synthetic yarns may melt or warp.  Put mug hug on cup BEFORE filling it with hot beverages.

Other Suggestions

  • Try solid, variegated or self-striping yarns.
  • Work each HDC as a DC for a slightly thicker texture.
  • Work the “rug” using 2 strands of yarn for a super thick coaster.
