My daughter asked me if I could crochet her a flower that she could wear with any of her little headbands. She has quite a collection of them!
I designed this Radiant Rose so that she can change it, or adjust it to sit in just the right spot! When the leaf is attached, an opening is made so it can be slid onto any headband. You can also slide the rose onto a barrette, or sew it onto hats, sweaters, wreaths, and more!

Materials:  US size G/6 (4.0 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors, headband

Yarn:  Any sport/light weight yarn; Approx. 50 yards of main color for rose, and 10 yards of green for leaf.
Sample shown using Red Heart Anne Geddes Baby yarn.

Size:  Approx. 2.5" wide

Gauge:  Not critical to this project.

Stitch Guide:  ch(s) - chains, sc - single crochet, hdc - half double crochet, dc - double crochet, st(s) - stitches, V-st - (dc, ch 1, dc) in same st.

Rose Instructions:

Ch 45.
Row 1:  V-st in 3rd ch from hook, *ch 1, skip 1 ch, V-st in next ch; repeat from * to last 2 chs, skip 1 ch, sc in last ch.  [21 V-sts]
Row 2:  Ch 1, turn, 7 dc into V-st, *slip st into ch-1 space, ch 1, 7 dc into V-st; repeat from * across to within last 2 V-sts, slip st into ch-1 space, ch 1, 6 hdc into V-st, slip st into ch-1 space, ch 1, 5 hdc in last V-st, slip st to beginning ch-3 from previous row.  Fasten off leaving 14" tail for sewing.  [21 petals made]

You should now have a strand of petals that looks like this:

Starting at the last petal made, carefully roll into rose shape using the foundation chain as a guide.  Then thread the long tail onto yarn needle, and sew back and forth through the bottom of the rose to secure.

Leaf Instructions:

Ch 13.
Round 1:  Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2, hdc in next 2, dc in next 2, hdc in next 2, sc in next 2, slip st in last ch, ch 1; Continuing onto opposite side of starting chain: Slip st in 1st ch, sc in next 2, hdc in next 2, dc in next 2, hdc in next 2, sc in last 3.
Round 2 (optional):  Slip st or Sc in each st around.  Fasten off leaving 8" tail for sewing.

Position leaf on back of rose as shown:

Sew end of leaf in place.  Then, measure opening for headband and tack down center of leaf.  Use this photo as a guide:

Weave in all ends and... Voila!
Adjustable/removable Rose!
Happy Crocheting!
