CROCHET PATTERN - Perfect DC Beanie

This simple, textured beanie works up quickly & is perfect for everyone in the family!  Work the entire beanie through both loops, and you'll have a perfect DC beanie.  Enjoy!

Materials: I/9 (5.5 mm) hook, yarn needle, scissors

Yarn: 100-200 yards worsted weight yarn.
Sample shown using Lion Brand Nature’s Choice Organic Cotton.

Sizes: 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-12 months, Toddler, Child and Adult

Gauge: 15 DC and 8 Rows = 4”

Difficulty: Very Easy

Stitch Guide:  BL - back loop, CH - chain, DC - double crochet, SC - single crochet, SL ST - slip stitch, ST(S) - stitch(es)

Notes
  • The CH-1 or CH-2 at the beginning of each round does NOT count as a stitch. Join the last stitch to the top of the first stitch.
  • The top of the hat is started with a Magic Ring. I highly recommend this technique.
  • The texture of this hat makes it slightly stretchy. If you know you crochet loosely, you may want to use an H hook instead.

Other Suggestions...
  • Crochet a flower to attach to the side of the hat.
  • Work the final SC round in RSC (reverse single crochet).
  • Use a fun variegated or self-striping yarn for a colorful hat.
  • Work entire hat through both loops for a simple, smooth beanie.
  • Add ear flaps for a warm winter hat.
  • Add a pom pom, pins, appliqués, ribbons, or buttons to your hat to make it unique.
