If you'd like to make a little pixie hat and scarf for your little shelf elf, this pattern works up quickly with just a small amount of yarn. Happy Holidays!
Supplies: G/6 (4.0mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors.
Yarn: Any baby/sport weight (size 3) yarn. I used a ball from my stash that didn't have a label, but it's definitely sport weight. I really like the stranded/variegated look.
Stitch Guide: ch - chain, sc - single crochet, dc - double crochet, st(s) - stitches, sl st - slip stitch
Gauge: 5 dc and 3 rows = 1"
Start with magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 1 (not a st), 6 dc in ring, join to 1st dc--6 dc.
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 dc in each dc around, join--12 dc.
Round 3: Ch 1, (dc in next, 2 dc in next) around, join--18 dc.
Round 4: Ch 1, (dc in next 2, 2 dc in next) around, join--24 dc.
Round 5: Ch 1, dc in each dc around, join--24 dc.
Rounds 6-7: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join--24 sc.
Fasten off and weave in ends. Give the tip of the hat a little stretch to make it nice and pointy.
I like the front of my elf's hair to poke out the front of the hat a little. If you'd like to add one more round of sc to your elf's hat, that would look great, too.
Leaving a 4" starting tail, ch 60, then fasten off leaving a 4" ending tail.
Place another slip knot on your hook leaving a 4" starting tail, sl st in each ch across, then fasten off leaving a 4" ending tail.
Cut two 8" pieces of yarn, and thread them through the end of the scarf. Tie a knot at the spot where the fringe meets the scarf to secure.
Repeat on other end.
Merry Christmas! :)
