I've been wanting to learn how to do Tunisian Crochet for a long time, and I finally figured it out!
This little coffee cozy is the product of several short rows of the Tunisian Simple Stitch that were joined by a seam and slipped onto my travel cup.
Easy Peasy!
MATERIALS: I-9 (5.5 mm) Tunisian crochet hook, small amount of worsted weight cotton or wool, yarn needle, scissors. (If you don't have a Tunisian hook you can still make this project with a regular I hook because the rows are short.)
STITCH GUIDE: ch - chain, YO - yarn over
NOTES:
1. You do not turn at the end of a row. Each row is worked from right to left, and then back again (...or left to right, if you're a lefty.)
2. Count your stitches EVERY time... it's very easy to miss the last stitch of the row!
3. The piece will curl up, but when you sew the seam closed, it will work out just fine.
Ch 12, or any number you like.
Row 1 (forward): Insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, YO and pull up loop, * insert hook into next ch, YO and pull up loop; repeat from * across leaving all 12 loops on hook. Do not turn.
Row 1 (return): YO and pull through 1st loop, * YO and pull through 2 loops; repeat from * across. One loop will remain on hook.

Row 2 (forward): * Insert hook from right to left under next vertical thread, YO and pull up loop; repeat from * across leaving all loops on hook. Do not turn.
Row 2 (return): YO and pull through 1st loop, * YO and pull through 2 loops; repeat from * across.

Repeat Row 2 (forward & return) until the piece fits around your travel mug or to-go cup. Fasten off, leaving a 12" tail for sewing.
Sew first and last rows together.
You can add a round of single crochet to the top and bottom of the cozy if you'd like, but I think it looks just fine without it.
